My backyard… June 25, 2009

Hubby stitched a few photos together to capture the whole tree.

…well, not quite. But with all of these wonderous places only a few hours drive away, I feel like I live in the best corner of the universe.

Here’s a quick tour of our weekend getaway.
This was a giant cedar tree… from the inside. It was listed as a short .25 mile hike so we tacked it on to the end of our day. Of course, it was a bit of a surprise to find out that it was practically .25 miles straight up to get there. The cool view and the fun the boys had with the tree made it worth the effort though.

We had a chance to experience snow in the higher elevations.
Explore a waterfall or two.
Check out the waves at the ocean.
Enjoy a river near our lodge.
And discover new shades of green in a temperate rainforest.
